Dr. Dorian Lo is the President of Express Scripts Canada.
Dr. Dorian Lo brings more than 25 years of experience as a physician and visionary business leader to his role as President of Express Scripts Canada. As President, Dorian is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the organization as it looks to build on its position as Canada’s premier health benefit manager.
Dorian has a keen interest in bringing the best ideas from around the globe to the Canadian market, to help solve some of the daunting challenges facing the Canadian health benefits industry.
Mark Murphy is the Vice-President, Finance, Operations, Clinical and Strategy.
As Vice-President, Finance, Operations, Clinical and Strategy, Mark Murphy is responsible for Express Scripts Canada’s financial strategy, as well as the development, delivery, management and day-to-day operations of health benefits management products and services.
Prior to joining Express Scripts Canada, Mark was Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice-President of Operations of Aetna Health Management. He has also held senior positions within Aetna Canada, where he was CFO of the firm’s Group Life and Health and Pension Division and head of Aetna’s internal audit department. He previously held a number of senior roles at KPMG in South Africa, England and Canada.
Mark‘s professional integrity and track record of operating with transparency while maximizing long-term value for clients are among his notable traits that perfectly align his skill set with the Express Scripts Canada’s leadership team.
Christine Griffin is the Director, Customer Services.
Christine Griffin directs Express Scripts Canada’s customer services team. She oversees existing accounts and explores new opportunities within those accounts to provide our clients with a full range of active pharmacy benefit solutions.
With close to 20 years of customer service and management experience, Christine has held a number of progressive positions within Express Scripts Canada. Her expertise in health benefit management, customer service and account management make her an asset to the organization and to the many clients she and her team serve.
Deborah Gendron is the Director of Program Management.
Deborah has more than 28 years of diverse project management experience in the insurance and financial industries where she has held project management positions in both development and client services. A certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Deborah enthusiastically leads the program management team responsible for monitoring and controlling the interdependencies between projects and tracking the contribution of each project to the consolidated program benefits. With a focus on successful delivery, Deborah and her team of certified PMPs plan and execute project initiatives to improve systems and deliver innovative products and services to Express Scripts Canada clients and members.
Deborah also leads our business resiliency team ensuring that all of Express Scripts Canada’s critical business functions and processes are designed and executed with the capability to continue to operate or recover quickly from any type of incident or disruption. As an active member of the Project Management Institute, Deborah is passionately involved in the community and in the development of new PMPs.
Doug Woodward is the Director of Technology Services and Chief Security Officer.
Doug’s team is responsible for end-user services, production operations and the development of technology strategy and solutions.
Doug brings more than two decades of information technology industry experience to his role, including IT service management, governance and security, planning and process managements, network design and implementation, desktop set-up and support, programming and database administration, ERP design, implementation and support.
Playing a key leadership role in the ongoing development of new technologies and process improvements, Doug’s can-do attitude and commitment to customer service has led to the delivery of hundreds of successful IT projects that contribute to Express Scripts Canada’s economical attainment of its business goals. His professional interests and expertise spans IT security, communications, mobile computing, hardware and software.
Gokul Nedumaram is the Director of the Business Alignment Team.
Gokul Nedumaram leads a dynamic team that uses information technology to improve Express Scripts Canada’s financial performance and competitiveness. Directing the development of business and IT strategies, Gokul’s efforts champion initiatives that encourage business stakeholder partnerships, improve operational efficiencies, appropriately engage senior management team members and deliver bottom-line business value.
Leveraging over 15 years industry experience, Gokul is recognized for creative and innovative approaches that cost-effectively solve business challenges through positive and productive relationships among Express Scripts Canada partners and team members.
Jennifer Tran is the Director of Finance.
Contributing to Express Scripts Canada’s overall organizational success, Jennifer Tran effectively manages all financial functions, including management accounting and reporting, planning and budgeting, treasury, banking, corporate taxation management and the development and maintenance of internal controls. Jennifer’s eye for detail helps ensure the organization meets its financial obligations. By working effectively with other members of the senior management team, Jennifer plays an important contributing role in the development and delivery of Express Scripts Canada’s financial strategies and activities.
John Herbert is the Director, Clinical, Research & New Solutions.
Responsible for leading the formulary and programs area, including drug plan management activities, John Herbert directs Express Scripts Canada’s strategic initiatives and product development activities. John‘s powers of observation have helped him successfully lead Express Scripts Canada’s analytics activities, including the direction of financial and data analysis projects across the organization.
Prior to joining Express Scripts Canada in 1999, John gained valuable insight into the group insurance industry during his tenure as a consultant at London Life Insurance Company and as an employee benefits analyst at Morneau Shepell.
John graduated from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario with his Master of Business Administration in 1999.
Karen Kesteris is Director, Product Management and Chief Product Owner.
As Director, Product Management and Chief Product Owner, Karen Kesteris leads the product development team. Karen brings 20+ years of product development, marketing and leadership experience to the role, along with a strong specialization in healthcare, pharmacy benefit management and insurance.
Karen’s most recent experience prior to Express Scripts Canada came at Medavie Blue Cross, where she served as Director, Drug Product and Provider Management. In this role, Karen oversaw the full product life cycle, and was responsible for driving innovation and strategy for both group and individual insurance products.
In her past roles, Karen was Director of Private Payer Solutions at Telus Health, and Director of Marketing Communications and Product Development at Green Shield Canada. She holds a BA in Public Administration from the University of Guelph.
Magda Vogel is the Senior Director of Information Systems.
Known for developing strategic vision to achieve business goals, Magda offers a unique blend of professional acumen and IT solutions development that deliver strong returns and operational improvement. Magda has built a strong and responsive information technology team that consistently delivers results by aligning technology initiatives with business objectives. As a certified and experienced project management practitioner, Magda enjoys leveraging her vast skillset in order to deliver project benefits that depend on the development, design and delivery of the change. Magda has a keen interest in the sociology of human change management that is contingent on people embracing, adopting and utilizing change.
Mary Johannesson is the Senior Director, NIHB Contract Project Manager.
Mary Johannesson brings 25 years of group benefits experience and expertise to the development and co-ordination of operational strategies designed to improve Express Scripts Canada’s operational execution including its reliability, cost efficiencies, customer service and flexibility. Overseeing a large and highly skilled team, Mary’s energy and enthusiasm inspires commitment. As an active member of the group benefits community, Mary holds Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI) and Health Insurance Associate (HIA) group insurance industry designations, has served on the FLMI Board of Directors and was the 2008 and 2009 LOMA Canada Group Benefits and Retirement Services Education Section Chair. Through her dedication, drive and positive attitude, Mary embodies the cornerstones of Express Scripts Canada’s approach to customer service: proactive, dependable, respectful and upbeat.
Mary Lou Kranyc is the Director of Operations - Adjudication Services.
Mary Lou brings over 20 years of experience that spans across many functional areas in the group benefits industry. Her varied background lends to her success in leading, supporting and directing operational activities related to Express Scripts Canada’s adjudication services. With a focus on building strong, diverse teams, Mary Lou is a dynamic leader to the Business Integrity, Provider Relations, Drug, Health Technologies Database and Claims Services departments at Express Scripts Canada. Always looking for ways to help her teams succeed, Mary Lou proactively monitors operational processes within these departments and has been instrumental in identifying process improvements, efficiencies and automation opportunities.
Michael Simpson is the Director of Application Delivery.
Developing Express Scripts Canada’s client and patient systems, Michael combines more than 20 years experience in the fields of information technology, healthcare and business intelligence.
Over the past 12 years alone, Michael has focused on building and integrating solutions for hospitals, pharmacies, claims adjudicators and other health care service providers. In doing so, he has proven his ability to apply his extensive architecture and project management experience at the operational, tactical and strategic levels in order to creatively solve complex business problems and deliver value. Leveraging his extensive knowledge, vast industry experience and good judgment, Michael also lends his talent and charisma to the delivery of critical business strategies at Express Scripts Canada.
Pierre-Étienne Tremblay is the Senior Director, Operations, Provider and Pharma Relations & Chief Privacy Officer.
Prior to joining the Express Scripts Canada team in 2006, Pierre-Étienne Tremblay gained invaluable experience working as a lawyer, and later – after attaining his MBA – holding various corporate leadership positions. Building on this diverse background, Pierre-Étienne develops and maintains all private sector client relations for Express Scripts Canada and plays an integral role in negotiations with professional associations in Quebec. Overseeing his team’s activities, Pierre-Étienne is also responsible for executing business strategies to grow Express Scripts Canada’s presence while continuously improving operational excellence and increasing customer satisfaction nationwide.
Stéphanie Myner-Nham is the Director of Human Resources and Corporate Services at Express Scripts Canada.
Responsible for the overall direction of Express Scripts Canada’s Human Resources and Corporate Services department, Stéphanie joined the company in 2009 and has advanced through several management positions over the last decade.
With over 20 years of progressive corporate experience covering cross-functional expertise, Stéphanie is well placed to lead Express Scripts Canada’s diverse and talented workforce towards an innovative future. Her many areas of oversight include organizational development, employee relations, change management, policy review, translation, talent planning, quality programs, and diversity and inclusion.
Stéphanie has spearheaded key developments at Express Scripts Canada, including successful implementation of a new employee recognition program, and developing a framework to ensure compliance with new provincial employment legislation.
A keen believer in the importance of continuing education and lifelong learning, in addition to her Honours BA in Mass Communications and French and diploma in Human Resources Management, Stéphanie has achieved several professional certifications, including a Certified Human Resources Leader designation and an HR Law certificate from Osgoode Hall Law School.
Vigna Vivekanand is the Senior Director, Finance.
As Senior Director, Finance, Vigna Vivekanand leads the finance team, and provides financial strategy and oversight across all facets of the organization. Prior to joining Express Scripts Canada, Vigna spent more than ten years at generic pharmaceutical manufacturer Apotex Inc., where he took on a progression of senior finance roles, culminating with that of Director, Global Generics Finance. Before that, he served as Co-Controller and Principal Accounting Officer at IMAX Corporation.
Vigna is a strategic thinker with proven leadership skills. As both a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Professional Accountant, he has a deep understanding of both Canadian and U.S. accounting standards, and holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto.
Warren Chau is the Director of Pharma Relations.
Leveraging his extensive project management, negotiation and client relations management expertise in retail pharmacy, Warren Chau is responsible for defining and executing Express Scripts Canada’s strategy that focuses on establishing and managing strategic pharmaceutical relationships with brand and generic manufacturers. He and his team focus on fostering positive, collaborative partnerships with pharmaceutical manufacturers to dissolve barriers related to the accessibility of prescription drugs and ensure the sustainability of the current private payor model.
Through the proactive establishment of these relationships, Warren and his team focus on finding additional value through financial savings for our clients as well as new avenues to enhance patient experiences. Warren takes great pride in the relationships he has built and instills in his team the ethic of working collaboratively with key stakeholders to put patients first in order to achieve better health outcomes and reduce costs.
