  • Call Centre to Assist Plan Members, Answer Questions

MISSISSAUGA, ON, Dec. 8, 2011 /CNW/ - Express Scripts Canada, one of the largest providers of health benefits management services in Canada, today announced the availability of a secure Online Prescription Manager Web site and a Member Contact Centre (MCC) to help facilitate delivery to plan members of its expanded pharmacy benefit management (PBM) service and home delivery of maintenance prescription medications through the Express Scripts Canada Pharmacy.

The Online Prescription Manager, which went live earlier today, is available in English and French, and can be accessed by plan members through Express Scripts Canada's Web site at www.express-scripts.ca. The MCC, which opens this morning at 9 a.m. ET, can be reached toll-free by calling 1 (855) 550-MEDS (6337).

Express Scripts Canada's expanded PBM service, which was announced November 15, 2011, is the latest solution that will enable Express Scripts Canada to better meet the needs of its customers by making it possible to significantly reduce the cost of providing a prescription drug benefit.

Sign Up for Home Delivery, Manage Maintenance Medications
The Express Scripts Canada Pharmacy's Online Prescription Manager and the MCC will allow plan members to take an active role in the management of their prescription drug benefit, as well as for their covered family members. Using the Online Prescription Manager, plan members can sign up for home delivery of maintenance medications from the Express Scripts Canada Pharmacy, facilitate the transfer of existing prescriptions from another pharmacy, and obtain new prescriptions and refills from their prescribing doctor. Plan members will also be able to use the Online Prescription Manager to order, pay for and track the delivery status of their maintenance prescription medications.

Member Contact Centre
Member advisors in the Express Scripts Canada Pharmacy's MCC are available to answer plan member questions Monday to Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET. They can also help plan members understand how to optimize their pharmacy benefit, gain access to their prescription medication information, and sign up for home delivery.

Plan members can talk to a member advisor, or a pharmacist, who can answer questions about their medications, by calling the MCC toll-free, at 1-855-550-MEDS (6337).

Pharmacy Benefit Management
Express Scripts Canada's expanded PBM service, which can be added by companies and organizations without changing insurance carriers, applies behavioral sciences to health care decision-making in order to more effectively manage benefit costs and improve health outcomes. Plan members, with the support of their physician, will interact with a team of highly qualified professionals at Express Scripts Canada to learn about their maintenance medication alternatives so that they can make more informed choices. The result will be decisions that offer the best possible health outcome, while reducing costs for both the member and the plan sponsor.

Working in conjunction with the expanded PBM service, each Express Scripts Canada Pharmacy facilitates the dispensing and delivery of prescription drugs to treat ongoing medical conditions, such as asthma, diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure. A supply of up to 90 days of these maintenance prescription medications will be delivered, via free standard shipping, to patients' homes, or to another address they designate.
